One Million Signatures for Land Return in 2017

The First National Strategic Planning Meeting  (NSP) of Black First Land First (BLF), held in Durban from 12 to 16 December 2016, resolved to obtain 1 million signatures on the Land First Petition towards land return without payment in 2017! It was then decided that teams of BLF volunteers shall be visiting townships, squatter camps, villages, taxi ranks, bus stops, lotto queues, shebeens, churches, campuses, etc. with a Land Petition and engage face-to-face with the public on the basic question, “should blacks buy back their stolen land, Yes or No?”

The petition won’t be online. It is intended to effect one-on-one contact with the ground. To succeed in the revolutionary process, millions must get involved. This petition will culminate in a “National Take Back The Land Imbizo”. Politicians will be given the people’s verdict together with an ultimatum – “give or we take!”.

We are aware the people have 3 levels of readiness regarding taking back the land, namely:

1. The advance segment

These people are ready to take back the land immediately. BLF is going to issue a call to this segment to join the land occupation warriors.

2. The intermediary segment

These people would be trained and  prepared to be taken to the advanced  segment and phase of the revolution  via the processes of the land petition.

3. The backward segment

These people would be trained and taken to the intermediary segment and phase of the revolution via engagement with the public through the land petition process.

Making revolution is not a sprint. It’s a marathon. We are in for the long haul!
