Black First Land First statement on the swearing in of Brian Molefe as MP

Black First Land First (BLF) welcomes the parliament’s announcement that former Eskom CE, Brian Molefe is to become a member of parliament.

Molefe is one of the most intellectually gifted and patriotic black managers in South Africa. His track record as an initiator of economic transformation speaks for itself.

National parliament has become a place of vile and cheap insults. Our parliament has been reduced to an arena of the crude defence of colonialism and white monopoly capital. From opposition benches, mostly, we have come to expect the echo of the colonial voice bellowing from London.

The ruling party has not been able to be bold and articulate as defender and advancer of the black agenda. The stagnation is devastating and debilitating. Molefe will certainly assist to infuse a new dynamism and substance to the affairs of parliamentary politics.

BLF wishes to encourage the president of the country, Jacob Zuma, to act with speed in elevating Brian Molefe into the position of Finance Minister. It’s time for unapologetic ministers in that portfolio, who are not agents of white monopoly capital. The current Finance Minister, Pravin Gordhan, has failed to protect the economy from the hyenas called white monopoly capital. This is so because Gordhan benefits directly from the proceeds of criminal activities of the banks.

It’s time to stop listening to the voices of settler white monopoly capital. Time for pushing change is now!

BLF hopes that this Budget speech is the last from the lips of a minister of finance who is captured, compromised and conflicted.
