BLF rejects non apology of City Press

Black First Land First (BLF) has seen the so called apology published by the City Press after losing the appeal for writing fake news about a BLF event. City Press has lied about what Professor Malikane said at the BLF Blacks in Dialogue (BiD) event in April 2017.

We laid a complaint with the Press Ombud who found in favour of BLF. Instead of apologizing as ordered, City Press then appealed the Ruling of the Press Ombud. However, City Press lost again when their application for leave to appeal was dismissed by the Appeals Panel on 19 July 2017 via Judge Ngoepe. But City Press has been undeterred for three weeks – as it refused to comply with the Ruling of the Press Ombud ordering it to apologize to Prof Malikane.

BLF had subsequently written to the Press Ombud to get City Press to comply with the Ombud’s Ruling. However, instead of complying City Press has yet again written a fake apology. BLF rejects this apology and has written to the Press Ombud to get due compliance from City Press.

City Press, Media24, AmaBhungane and Daily Maverick regularly write fake news in defence of white monopoly capital. BLF has lodged another complaint with the Press Ombud about fake stories by these bulldogs of white monopoly capital. We know that they don’t do journalism – they do white propaganda.

BLF demands a proper apology. We reject the non apology written in the same modus operandi of fake news that these outlets specialize in. its clear why AmaBhungane and Daily Maverick are running away from a debate with BLF. They know they will be exposed!

Court orders AmaBhungane to debate BLF

Court orders AmaBhungane to debate BLF

The High Court yesterday ordered AmaBhungane to have a debate with Black First Land First (BLF) about the fake news including fake emails that the movement and its leader has been falsely implicated in. BLF had told the Court that AmaBhungane is running away from an open debate because it is afraid of being exposed for being manufacturers of fake news.

AmaBhungane wanted the Court to sentence the leader of BLF, Comrade Andile Mngxitama, to a three months term of imprisonment coupled with a the payment of a fine by both BLF and its leader in the amount of R100 000, payable within seven days. The Court did not agree with these punitive measures demanded by AmaBhungane. Yes, in this regard the Court didn’t agree with the relief sought by AmaBhungane – even without hearing BLF’s side of the story. If BLF was given a chance to put its version of the story before Court then, and in that event, even the most racist of judges would have dismissed the application of AmaBhungane and the white journalists.

BLF is calling on AmaBhungane to stop running away from debating with it. The Court has now spoken. It also observed that the AmaBhungane owner and alleged apartheid spy, Sam Sole, seemed dazed by its decision. The Judge was driven to asked Sole as to why he looked confused? On the other hand, the Judge had complimentary things to say about BLF Provincial leader, Abie Letsoalo. This is a good indication of how a debate between BLF and AmaBhungane is likely to go – confusion of AmaBhungane versus the clarity of BLF.

BLF will study the Court judgement and decide if it wishes to appeal or not. Right now we are busy with serious matters related to the battle against white monopoly capital. The battle for land is on!

amaBhungane exposed as fake

amaBhungane exposed as fake

Black First Land First (BLF) has long known that the so-called investigative journalist outfit amaBhungane is a peddler of fake news. The group is a mere bulldog of white monopoly capital. Now the truth is out! BLF believes that amaBhungane preplanned the disruption of their own event as a ploy to get BLF leadership and members arrested for contravening the Hight Court interdict brought by some of its members.

Here are the facts to substantiate BLF’s conclusion in this regard:

1. The statement issued by amaBhungane on the 28 July 2017 (one day after the event) was drafted on the 18 of July 2017. We ask, why draft a statement about an event that was to happen so many days later? This is how apartheid spies used to frame the liberation movement leaders so as to get them convicted for crimes they never committed. This method of creating and planting evidence against revolutionaries was well established by the apartheid regime.

2. The amaBhungane statement for the first time reveals that there was a “knife” which was brandished during the so-called disruption of the event. This is a pure lie invented by amaBhungane on 18 July to try and tarnish the revolutionary reputation and image of BLF. We have all seen hundreds of tweets and dozens of write-ups by the more than 100 journalists who were at the amaBhungane event on 27 July 2017 – not a single one has mentioned that a “knife” had been “brandished” at any stage. We ask where is the footage or a photograph showing the knife being “brandished”? We further ask, why not open a criminal case regarding the alleged knife brandishing action? The reason for the failure to institute criminal proceedings in this respect is because there is no material evidence to back the fake news cooked by amaBhungane.

3. The so-called journalist of amaBhungane who attacked Mngxitama is on record saying that he was pushed to the floor by some of the participants. This is another lie. Where is the footage and where are the photographs of the journalist being pushed on the floor? This is how brazen the fake news manufacturers have become. They lie with straight faces!

4. Stephen Brummer is one of the prized so-called investigative journalists of amaBhungane. How come he has no clue of the basics of journalism? He says that he attacked the President of BLF, Comrade Mngxitama, because he believed that he (Mngxitama) was linked to the group that was singing at the event. Upon what evidence was this conclusion formed? Why didn’t he establish the facts before making such a far fetched conclusion? This is how amaBhungane does its “investigative journalism” – it produces fake news in defence of white monopoly capital which in turn funds it. To this end it rubbishes and slanders all those who are fighting white monopoly capital.

BLF is considering opening another criminal case against amaBhungane based on its attempts to frame and defame our movement. The plan to try and tarnish the revolutionary name and reputation of our movement was planned weeks before the event of the 27th of July as amaBhungane’s own statement shows. In this regard, BLF will submit evidence of amaBhungane’s fabrication of bogus news to the investigating officer of the criminal case opened against Stephen Brummer of amaBhungane.

BLF will further submit a complaint to the Press Ombud against amaBhungane for manufacturing fake news. It is clear that amaBhungane is not an investigative journalist outfit. It is a mere bulldog of white monopoly capital involved in manufacturing fake news through fabricating evidence. It is clear that the emails that amaBhungane have been making so much noise about, are its own creation – just like their pre-drafted statement of 18 of July 2017 and the brandished knife that emerged from thin air at the event.

It is now clear why amaBhungane is trying to shut down BLF through the abuse of the process of the court as well as through pressurizing the police to arrest our members. Evidently, amaBhungane is afraid that BLF will expose their lies. BLF challenges amaBhungane to a public debate.

We warn our people to be careful of the lies spread by amaBhungane – it is using old apartheid methods of espionage, deception, disinformation and smear campaigns. amaBhungane is hard at work manufacturing evidence to cover up the massive corruption by white monopoly capital. BLF has long known that the outfit is fake.

BLF President attacked by a white man at amaBhungane event

Black First Land First (BLF) President, Andile Mngxitama, was attacked by a white man at the amaBhungane event this evening in Braamfontein. Comrade Mngxitama had attended the public event to ask questions about the lies being written about him. The topic of discussion was “inside the #GuptaLeaks”. Mngxitama walked into the venue and sat down just as the event was about to start.

At this stage a group of comrades arrived and started singing. Two white men then approached Mngxitama, who was seated peacefully, in a threatening manner. One white man got close to the President and pushed him and said, “stop your bullshit”. Mngxitama was startled by this and the white man threatened by saying, “tell your people to stop their nonsense”. The white man was evidently physically threatening Mngxitama who in turn pushed the man back in self defence. The comrades subsequently intervened between the President and the white man.

Neither Mngxitama nor the BLF know who the people who came into the venue singing are? And if these people are organized we also do not know which organization they represent. These people are not members of BLF.

Mngxitama at one point tried to calm the situation down but the white participants shouted him down. He waited until the event started again and then asked that an apology be given to him. However, the event organisers and the Chairperson, who had witnessed the uncalled for intimidation, were not interested. They instead said that Mngxitama must go and open a case with the police.

What is clear is that there are people who are associated with the white owned media who have decided to attack both BLF members and its leadership so as to get them arrested under false accusations.

We reiterate; BLF shall not be silenced or intimidated. We shall continue to ask questions and exercise our right to freedom of expression.

Land or death!
