BLF charged Johann Rupert for incitement of violence & opposed AfriForum’s complaint of hate speech

On 27 February 2019 Black First Land First (BLF), led by its President Andile Mngxitama, charged Johann Rupert at the Hillbrow Police Station, under the case number CAS 1025/2/2019, for inciting black on black violence. In this regard Rupert made the following racist utterances at or about 20h00 on Wednesday 4 December 2018 during an interview with Power FM (at 79 Central Street, Houghton Estate) hosted by the chairman of MSG Afrika, Given Mkhari:

“Jabu (Chairperson of Eskom, Jabu Mabuza) and I have one thing in common: He’s chairman of the (South African Black) Taxi Association and one of the first (partners) in Business Partners was the taxi association. So I also have my own army. When those red guys come, they’ve gonna have to remember the taxi association.”

Rupert clearly indicated that he had a long-time friend who is the chairman of the taxi association; has his own army; the taxi associations are his business partners and therefore his private militia; and anyone who affects his interests will be subjected to taxi owners violence. He thus threatened to unleash black on black violence.

This strongly suggests that Rupert sponsored the taxi violence during and after the apartheid era. There’s also reason to believe that Rupert will not hesitate to set his private army on BLF. The two are enemies. Rupert has ten interdicts against BLF to prevent them from taking the land that he stole from blacks.

In mid February this year AfriForum lodged a complaint at the Equality Court in Johannesburg against BLF and its President, Andile Mngxitama. The complaint relates to a speech delivered on 08 December 2018 by President Mngxitama at a rally that took place at the Ikageng Stadium, in Ikakeng, Potchefstroom. During his address BLF President responded to Ruperts incitement of violence. He said that if Rupert unleashes his private militia of taxi bosses to kill one black person then BLF would respond with 5 white lives, including their women, children and pets. He pointed out that we will defend ourselves against the violence of Rupert – it is our right.

The relief sought by AfriForum includes inter alia the following orders: that the words expressed by President Mngxitama amount to hate speech; an unconditional apology; damages in the amount of R500 000.00; and referral of the Judgment and the evidence to the Director of Public Prosecutions.

Yesterday, BLF filed its opposing affidavit in the Equality Court. We pointed out amongst other things as follows:

AfriForum has not proven its case and the Court must deny the relief it seeks. The underlying assumptions of the orders sought demonstrate the function of racism and arrogance by AfriForum. It is aimed at humiliating BLF and its President and reproducing the violence of colonialism. When perpetrating the black genocide whites acted indiscriminately making no distinction between black women, men, children and their pets – they killed them all. The reference to white children and women, as well as their pets is rhetorical and meant to create a mirror image and serve as a deterrent to the black on black violence threatened by Rupert.

BLF also made a general call to all the taxi associations. We asked them to tell Rupert, ‘We are not your militia. We are not your private army’.

The formation of a political party is un-circumscribed and free. It is a constitutional right. The consolidated effect of the complaint by AfriForum is to proscribe the existence of the BLF.

This case is politically motivated and malicious. It forms part of a long list of attempts by Afriforum to ban BLF. AfriForum will not succeed. BLF will be in parliament in 2019.

BLF to take action against AfriForum

BLF to take action against AfriForum

Black First Land First (BLF) takes the denial of apartheid being a crime against humanity as insulting the dignity of black people and an act of racism. Apartheid was declared a crime against humanity by the United Nations. The International Criminal Court has also expressed in its statutes that apartheid is a crime against humanity.

The racist AfriForum/Euroforum continues with its racist activities unabated. BLF will no longer tolerate the racism of this group. AfriForum/Euroforum has now revved up its racism by denying that apartheid is a crime against humanity. Denialism of the holocaust is a crime in Germany, correctly so.

BLF in Gauteng will be undertaking several actions against AfriForum including opening a case of racism with the Equality Court on Thursday, engaging in protest actions and writing letters to parliament to have this group banned. If parliamant and the courts do not act, BLF will stop the racism of AfriForum by any means necessary.

BLF regards the denialism of apartheid as a declaration of war against black people.

BLF Student Movement condemns the racist utterances of UKZN lecturer Annie Epstein on social media

BLF Student Movement condemns the racist utterances of UKZN lecturer Annie Epstein on social media

The University of KwaZulu Natal (UKZN) Howard College chapter of the Black First Land First Student Movement (BLF-SM) is aggrieved by the Facebook status update made by Annie Epstein, a lecturer and academic of the campus. The said status update, which supposedly advocates for African scholarship, reads as follows:

“A question to BLF/EFF/ANC POLITICIANS AND VOTE SEEKERS… Once the LAND has been returned to its WRONGFUL OWNERS (I.E not the SAN and not the KHOI) who is going to pay the rates on it? THAT COOKIE JAR IS GETTING EMPTIER BY THE DAY”.

BLF-SM is an ANTI-RACIST movement. We condemn the manifestly racist remarks of Epstein. We have an unwavering commitment to expose and fight racism wherever it shows itself both within and beyond this University. Epstein’s racist utterances comes as an insult not only to our movement but to the just struggle for liberation of our people via the return of the stolen land. To this end it demeans the collective pain of blacks that the legacies of our forebears, our ancestors, our youth, our students and our revolutionary leaders like Robert Mangaliso Sobukwe and Steve Biko bear testimony to. Epstein’s naked racism is an insult to the black students who are taught by her.

Miss Epstein makes the maliciously racist remark that Africans (Black People) are the “Wrongful Owners” of this land and that in fact the San and Khoi are the rightful owners. She deliberately ignores the fact that the Khoi San are Africans and have been living with the rest of the Africans peacefully on this land, until white settlers colonized this land and divided our people in Africa.

To this end there is no justification for why 80% of the land in South Africa is in the hands of white settler colonizers. BLF-SM is clear! All land in white hands is stolen land. We want our land, all of it! This means everything on it, as well as beneath it which includes the ocean, the air and all the mineral wealth. All of the land belongs to the landless black people who continue to live in sub-human conditions today because of white people.

We shall not allow white racism to run freely in Howard College. We call on the University management to suspend Epstein pending disciplinary action which it must take against her failing which we shall shut down the campus without hesitation. From the outset we demand a clear apology from Epstein.

Epstein’s apology must translate into a commitment to employ her status as a lecturer to correct the colonial situation that her racist utterances serve to promote and justify.

To this end Epstein must commit herself to destroying the basis of racism which is land theft from the black people. In order to correct the historical injustice, all this land must be returned to the black majority without compensation. Epstein must, because she spoke for all white people when she made her racist comments, tell whites to return the stolen land to blacks.

Epstein must also demonstrate her commitment to correcting the historical injustice of land theft by whites, by returning all the land in her hands.

This is the most appropriate penalty to be imposed on Epstein who is via her racism causing a division between black people by casting the Khoi and San outside the African people as a collective. We note that individual acts of racism by the likes of Epstein will not on its own disappear so long as society is organized within the reality of white power. Racism will only be eradicated via the return of the land to the black majority.

To deal with the white ignorance and arrogance of Epstein, she must be made to submit to a re-education process on white supremacy, slavery, colonialism, racism and apartheid by black people.

BLF-SM shall be approaching the Equality Court for the appropriate relief including the imposition of the above penalties on Epstein in relation to her naked racism.
