The revelation by the former scribe of Daily Maverick (DM), Karabo Modiba, that he was paid to write propaganda pieces against certain leaders doesn’t surprise Black First Land First (BLF) at all. DM has long stopped being an objective media outlet when it chose to be the bulldog of the Stellenbosch Mafia against Radical Economic Transformation (RET). Based on this agenda, fake news is generated against leaders considered to be supporters of RET.

DM’s unethical journalism is based on demonizing without fact anyone considered anti Stellenbosch and protecting all agents of the white monopoly capital (WMC) agenda. That’s why when Julius Malema had been on the offensive against President Zuma to undermine RET, he was considered a champion of anti corruption despite piles of evidence to the contrary. It was only when there was a fallout amongst the pro Stellenbosch gang that DM decided to investigate Malema as if he had not been involved in corruption all along.

The same unethical conduct of defending corruption, so long as it’s undertaken by the pro Stellenbosch agents, is seen in the lack of interest to investigate the CR17 leaders like Pravin Gordhan even when evidence is increasing against them.

Modiba has done journalism a great service by speaking out. BLF calls on all the students and other contributors to DM to come forward and tell the truth about how they have been paid to act as anti RET bots.

The paid attack on the person and integrity of Dr Iqbal Survé must be understood within the context of a drive by WMC to have total censorship of Independent Media. The ultimate aim is to have only the voice of WMC masquerading as the media. That is why DM was in active suport of those who worked tirelessly to shutdown ANN7.

The apartheid like reporting practices of DM makes a strong case for the establishment of an independent media tribunal to defend freedom of the press and promote fair reporting to end the current mass manufacturing of fake news and unwarranted attacks on individuals not associated with WMC.

Raid on Sekunjalo Holdings: Why has FSCA not raided offices of Jooste & Steinhoff?

Raid on Sekunjalo Holdings: Why has FSCA not raided offices of Jooste & Steinhoff?

The raid by the Financial Sector Conduct Authority (FSCA), on the offices of the Sekunjalo Holdings that is chaired by Dr Iqbal Survé, is the most unfortunate development since 1994.

There is little doubt that the apartheid regime like raid was a political attack on the independence of the media. It was moreover an intimidation tactic. It is clear that someone very high up in government doesn’t like the ground breaking investigative journalism that has been produced by Independent Media led by Survé.

The nation knows now that the 2017 ANC elective conference was bought with an amount of R1 billion. The revelations in this regard are thanks to the Independent Media group owned by Senkunjalo Holdings.

Black First Land First (BLF) asks: When is the FSCA raiding the offices of Steinhoff International? Also, why has the FSCA not raided the offices of Markus Jooste, whose proven corruption has caused the Public Investment Corporation (PIC) to lose over R20 billion? Is it because Jooste belongs to the cabal which has been exposed as funders of the CR17 campaign?

BLF says, Hands Off Dr Iqbal Survé

Black First Land First (BLF) denounces the raid conducted without prior notice by the Financial Sector Conduct Authority (FSCA) and the South African Police Service (SAPS) on Wednesday on the offices Dr Iqbal Survé, the chairperson of both Independent Media and the Sekunjalo Group.

BLF moreover condemns the ruthless campaign of misinformation, defamation and lies conducted against Dr Survé – in a bid to destroy him and his companies because he represents a precedent for black success. White monopoly capital (WMC) interests are envious of the success of Independent Media, Sekunjalo Holdings and even Ayo Technology Solutions under the competent leadership of Dr Survé.

BLF notes that ever since the Sekunjalo consortium had acquired Independent Media during July 2013 – Dr Surve and his companies have been subjected to atrocious attacks by the WMC interests (including the white owned media houses and state institutions) who oppose media transformation in South Africa (SA). These attacks have intensified in the past year more especially on Dr Survé.

The probe by FSCA into allegations of market manipulation and contravention of section 80 of the Financial Markets Act is clearly motivated by WMC interests via heavy handed methods ordered by its puppet President Cyril Ramaphosa in collusion with his lackeys.

The enemy of media transformation (WMC) is conducting a terrible campaign through repression against Dr Survé to silence him into submission. We remember how WMC destroyed ANN7 because it, just like Dr Survé’s media group, dared to tell the truth and expose the agenda of reaction.

We agree with the sentiments of Dr Surve regarding the allegations that Sekunjalo Holdings is irregularly share trading against Ayo Technology Solutions. We say, if the investigation needed information about Ayo Technology Solutions that they believed was on the laptops and computer hard drives held at the companies of Surve, they should have simply asked for it. Instead of investigating the complaint lodged by Sekunjalo that “certain well-known hedge funds and asset managers” were attempting to bring down the share price of Ayo Technology Solutions, FSCA is now being used to investigate Sekunjalo.

It’s clear that in an attempt to intimidate Survé and his media group into not publishing the truth, Cyril Ramaphosa, Pravin Gordhan and others associated with them are afraid that damning evidence (not limited to corruption) which implicates them criminally would show that they are each compromised, conflicted and beholden to WMC and to this end are not fit to hold office in any state entity, whatsoever.

BLF stands in solidarity with Dr Iqbal Survé in his pursuit of the truth and media transformation. We say #HandsOffDrIqbalSurvé.
