BLF denounces dismissal of PUTCO workers demanding wage increase

Black First Land First (BLF) is appalled by the mass firing of workers intended by PUTCO in response to their righteous demand for a wage increase.

We stand in solidarity with the PUTCO workers, and call on all the progressive sectors of society to support the struggle of these workers.

Instead of engaging with the unions and other stakeholders to address the demands at hand, PUTCO has unleashed the brutality of the police on the workers. We ask the SAPS to not shoot or harm innocent workers striking for a living wage. Workers cannot be held hostage by police brutality.

BLF calls on the government to intervene immediately to avert the dismissal of these workers. PUTCO gets government subsidies but fails to resolve labour disputes and refuses to accede to the legitimate demands of workers. This is intolerable.

BLF says, PUTCO, stop the firing the workers. Let them have their wage increase!
